Coverage
No Number on This Page Is a Promise
Transit coverage is arranged per move and confirmed in writing before the day, against a value you declare. Anything else printed on a website would be marketing rather than a policy.
Tell us what, from where, and roughly when. No obligation, and no inventory list needed to start the conversation.
Check these first
Three gaps people do not know they have
Homeowner off-premises
Most policies cap jewelry coverage away from the property at a small fraction of what is in the box. Look up your own limit before you move anything.
Auto in transit
If you drive your own valuables, your car insurance is very unlikely to cover them. This is the single most common wrong assumption we hear.
Bank box contents
Never FDIC insured, and never were. If your valuables have sat in a branch for twenty years, they have sat there uninsured.
The inventory
What actually decides a claim
An adjuster is being asked to accept that a specific item existed, was in a specific condition, and was in your possession on a specific date. A dated, photographed, itemised document signed by two independent witnesses answers all three. A carton labelled "master bedroom" answers none of them. This is why we spend an hour on the inventory and twenty minutes on the driving.
Liability
Where our responsibility starts and stops
- It starts when the inventory is signed and the container is sealed, and not before.
- It covers what is on the inventory. An item nobody wrote down is an item nobody can claim for.
- It does not extend to pre-existing condition, which is why condition is recorded before we wrap anything.
- It does not extend to valuation. We describe what we see; what it is worth is your appraiser's job.
- Specific terms are in the transport agreement you sign. Read it, and ask about anything that is not clear.
Nothing on this page is insurance, legal or tax advice. It describes how we work. For advice about your own coverage, speak to your broker.
Common questions
- How much is covered?
- Whatever is arranged and confirmed in writing for your move, based on your declared value. We will not quote a blanket figure on a website, because a number with no inventory behind it tells you nothing.
- Does my homeowner policy cover it in transit?
- Usually not, or not for much. Off-premises limits for jewelry are commonly capped at a level far below what people assume. Read yours, or ask your broker — this is worth ten minutes.
- Does my auto policy cover it if I drive it myself?
- Almost certainly not. Auto policies generally exclude property in transit. This surprises people regularly.
- Are vault contents insured?
- Not automatically, and not by FDIC — Florida Intervault is not a bank. Contents coverage is available separately through Lloyd's of London and is arranged with you.
- What do I need for a claim to work?
- The itemised inventory made before the move, with the photographs and the signatures. That document is what a claim is actually decided on.
- Do you appraise or value anything?
- No. We describe; we do not value. Bring your own appraisal or schedule if coverage depends on the figure.
Tell us what needs to move.
What, from where, and roughly when. You do not need an inventory to start the conversation, and if the job belongs with an armored carrier we will say so on the call.
