Route · 2.5–3 hrs via I-75 north from the Alley
Collections from Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva
Sanibel and Captiva are reached by a causeway that has been rebuilt since Ian, and the islands remain acutely storm-aware — a large share of the work here is people who lost something in 2022 and decided the next one would not catch them. Collections on the islands are timed around the causeway rather than the calendar.

How this route runs
The drive
- Time each way
- 2.5–3 hrs
- Road
- I-75 north from the Alley
- Destination
- 3562 N Ocean Blvd, Fort Lauderdale — Galt Ocean Mile
- Stops en route
- None. The vehicle is not left unattended at any point.
Before the day
- Tell us roughly what is moving. A list helps; it is not required to book.
- For a building, we need the management contact — most want a certificate of insurance filed in advance.
- For a gated community, arrange the gate authorization. A vehicle turned away wastes the morning.
- For an estate, have the documented authority to hand before we arrive.
- Allow time for the inventory. It is the part that protects you and the part people rush.
Conditions
What the drive from Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva is actually like
Across the Alley and then north on I-75, so this run inherits every Everglades consideration and adds an hour to it. The northern leg is straightforward interstate. Total time makes this a planned full-day movement, scheduled in advance rather than fitted around other work, and we do not compress it to suit a tight window.
Access
Arriving in Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva
A broad mix — riverfront and coastal condominium, gated communities inland, and single-family homes across a wide area. Access requirements vary more here than on the compact coastal routes, so the useful thing when booking is simply to describe the property type. Hurricane recovery work continues in parts of the region and can affect specific local roads, which we check close to the date rather than assume.

Common questions
- How long is the drive from Fort Myers, Sanibel & Captiva?
- 2.5–3 hrs each way, via I-75 north from the Alley, before season traffic. We quote the honest figure rather than the optimistic one, because the schedule for the day depends on it.
- How far ahead should we book?
- A week is comfortable for most collections. May and October fill up across the whole of South Florida, and a building with a bookable loading dock will usually need more notice than a house.
- Does the property travel with anyone else's?
- No. Your load is not consolidated with another client's, and there are no other collections on the same run.
- Can we follow the vehicle?
- Yes. Clients regularly drive down behind us and watch the property go into the vault. Nobody has ever been told no.
- Do you charge by distance?
- Distance is part of it, along with the size of the load and how long the collection itself takes. You get a figure before the day, not after.

Naples & Marco Island
Alligator Alley is a hundred miles of two-lane divided highway through the Everglades with almost no services and long stretches without phone signal. We plan a Naples run to cross it in daylight with a full tank, because there is nowhere to stop with a loaded vehicle and we would not stop if there were.

Sarasota & Longboat Key
A serious art town for its size, with private collections well out of proportion to the population. At nearly four hours it is a planned, single-purpose run: one client, one vehicle, out and back, with nothing else on the schedule that day.
